Cristiano Ronaldo defies age: No limit to his career, can play another World Cup at 41
Cristiano Ronaldo has been told he "has no limit," despite growing speculation that his career may be nearing its end, with many predicting he could still play in the 2026 World Cup at the age of 41. As Ronaldo celebrates his 40th birthday, questions persist regarding how much longer the legendary forward can compete at the highest level. However, the Portuguese icon has continually defied expectations, proving his doubters wrong time and again with remarkable performances.

Ronaldo has shown no signs of slowing down. He is focused on reaching 1,000 career goals and remains a key figure in Portugal's national team, with plans to participate in another major international tournament in 2026. Despite his age, there is little indication that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is contemplating retirement.
World Cup-winning midfielder Emmanuel Petit, who starred for France in 1998, sees no reason why Ronaldo cannot extend his playing days. While he acknowledges that Ronaldo’s presence in the team may create selection dilemmas, he remains confident that the forward's determination and professionalism ensure he continues to thrive.
Petit commented, “When you have Cristiano Ronaldo in your team, it’s a difficult decision for the manager. At Euro 2024, his performances weren’t at their best for Portugal, but he’s a player who treats his body professionally. Even at 40, he has the drive and hunger to succeed, which can positively influence the team.”
He continued, “It’s a challenge for any manager to decide whether to start him or use him as a substitute. Ronaldo’s name alone makes it a complicated situation for any coach. Roberto Martinez faces a tough task because no manager wants to be the one to bench Ronaldo or end his career.”
Ronaldo has also helped guide Portugal to another UEFA Nations League semi-final, with the opportunity for more silverware ahead. At the club level, the forward is expected to extend his historic contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, ensuring that his professional journey continues for the foreseeable future.
As his illustrious career unfolds, one thing remains clear: Cristiano Ronaldo’s quest for greatness shows no signs of stopping.
