‎The 25-year-old Cameroon international, who enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 Premier League campaign, is entering the final year of his contract at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium. Although the West London club hold an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months, sources close to the situation suggest Brentford are willing to entertain offers — if their valuation is met.
‎Brentford head coach Thomas Frank confirmed in May that the club would be “open” to a sale under the right circumstances. “If the right price — and that’s going to be expensive — is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open to it,” Frank said in an interview with Sky Sports.
‎Mbeumo contributed 20 goals and eight assists across all competitions in the 2024/25 season — his most productive since joining Brentford from Ligue 2 side Troyes in 2019. His form has attracted interest from several top Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur. However, the player reportedly favours a move to Manchester United, contingent on the clubs reaching a satisfactory agreement.
‎A dynamic and versatile forward, Mbeumo is capable of operating both on the wing and as a central striker. His adaptability and work rate have been central to Brentford’s success since their promotion to the Premier League in 2021. He scored 26 goals across Brentford’s first three seasons in the top flight, before taking his game to a new level this past year.
‎Capped 18 times by Cameroon and with four international goals to his name, Mbeumo now looks set for a major career leap — with Manchester United eager to bolster their attacking options as they reshape their squad under Erik ten Hag.
‎Brentford’s valuation of the forward is expected to exceed £45 million, and talks are anticipated to begin in the coming days. With Mbeumo publicly favouring a move to Manchester, the transfer saga could accelerate swiftly as United look to get business done early this window.
