He has won 33 senior championships, including four Champions League crowns, and has won the coveted Ballon d'Or six times.
Ronaldo depended on his speed and cleverness in his early years, but as time passed, he developed powerful finishing and heading ability, transforming himself into one of the most complete strikers the game has ever seen.
He is also well-known for his amazing work ethic both on and off the field, and the Portugal icon is expected to continue playing professionally into his forties.
Interestingly, Ronaldo has had very few injuries during his career, which has contributed to his longevity in the sport.
However, in 2021, a Twitter user named @LLF_14 tweeted about how the Portuguese had been suffering from a knee issue since 2014, which can worsen over time.
The user claimed to have figured out why some aspects of Ronaldo's game were declining at the age of 29.
They speculated that Ronaldo's playing style had changed owing to a knee ailment known as tendinosis.
The condition, which is prevalent, is a form of tendon dysfunction that causes discomfort, swelling, and reduced function; movement can exacerbate the symptoms. The most prevalent cause is overuse.
According to the NHS website, most'simple' tendon disorders recover within 12 weeks, but more severe instances might take several months to resolve.
It is said that mobility activities, early strength exercises, and strength and conditioning programs are critical to rehabilitation. The NHS also mentions 'work/sport obligations' as a potential barrier to a full recovery.
It also adds that aiming to strengthen the tendon more than before can assist to reduce the likelihood of future injuries.
A Portuguese FA medical report from June 2014 verified Ronaldo's knee condition, stating that he had sustained a'muscle damage in the posterior portion of the left thigh and left patellar tendinosis'.
The Twitter user emphasized that Ronaldo's ailment was persistent and 'degenerative', forcing him to make alterations for the 2014/15 season.
The truth appears to be slightly different. Ronaldo was diagnosed with the condition in June 2014 and, despite competing in the World Cup that summer, underwent rapid treatment. A month later, he stated that his knee problem had 'healed' but made no particular mention of the tendinosis.
Speaking in Tokyo, Japan, he said, "My injury is gone. I'm feeling great. I want to start the league in good shape. And I will do my best, like I do every year. Try to aid my squad, score goals, and win championships."
